NSW Home Energy Saver Program
Mate Solar & Electrical is an accredited installer in the NSW Government’s Home Energy Saver program.
The Home Energy Saver program is a NSW Government initiative that helps eligible households cover the upfront cost of solar and battery installations. It provides 0% interest loans of up to $15,000, repayable over up to 10 years, funded through the NSW Government’s Energy Security Corporation and delivered by two approved finance providers, Brighte and Plenti.
How it works.
1. Get your free quote.
Tell us about your home and what you are after – solar, battery, or both. We will put together a straightforward quote.
2. Apply through an approved finance provider.
If finance suits you, we will refer you to the program’s two approved providers, Brighte and Plenti, so you can compare their terms and apply directly.
3. We install, your provider pays.
Once your system is installed and you are happy with the work, your chosen finance provider pays us directly. You make no upfront payment to Mate.
FAQ
Is this a grant?
No. It is a 0% interest loan funded by the NSW Government. You repay what you borrow, over up to 10 years, with no interest.
Am I eligible?
You may be if your household’s taxable income is under $210,000 a year, the property is in NSW, you are the homeowner or a landlord, and you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident. The property cannot be social housing or short-stay accommodation. Take our short quiz to check your eligibility here.
Does Mate arrange the loan?
No. Mate installs your system and refers you to one of the program’s approved providers – Brighte or Plenti – who assess and manage the loan independently. We cannot tell you which one is right for you, but we are happy to point you to both so you can compare.
Can I pay it off early?
Early repayment terms can vary by provider. Ask your chosen provider directly when you apply.
What does the loan cover?
Solar, battery, and solar-and-battery systems, when installed by an accredited installer. The loan covers the upgrade and its installation — any separate pre-work, such as a switchboard upgrade, is quoted and paid for on its own.
